How to Calculate Your Garden Room Cladding Costs

Step One:

Measure the exterior walls of your garden room, including around any potential door and window frames. If your garden room is going to have a pitched or sloping roof, it is important to also measure the gable end of the wall accurately too, as this will impact how many cladding boards are required. Ensure your garden room walls are robust enough for cladding boards to be secured upon. Please note that cladding boards and sheets are designed to finish a walls exterior, and are not to be installed as the structural wall itself.

Step Two:

Before you can calculate the cost of your garden room cladding, choose from the following wall cladding options to suit your project:

Composite Wall Cladding:

Composite Wall Cladding Boards are manufactured from a wood/plastic blend and are an environmentally-friendly material to clad your new garden room in. Cladco supplies high-quality Composite Cladding Boards in both Woodgrain and Original finishes, that are available in 8 colours that will instantly elevate your outside space.

Composite Wall Cladding is easy to install with a tongue-and-groove method and can be applied to a system of composite, recycled plastic or timber joists/battens to secure the boards to the garden room wall. When calculating your garden room cladding cost, you must consider if you would like the boards to be installed horizontally, or vertically.

The wall your battens and boards are being fixed upon must be strong enough to support their weight. Take a look at our helpful Composite Wall Cladding Installation Guide for more information.

Fibre Cement Wall Cladding:

Fibre Cement Wall Cladding Boards are a low-maintenance, modern cladding solution, and have been manufactured to withstand harsh weather conditions with very little expansion and contraction when exposed to temperature and environmental changes. Cladco Fibre Cement Wall Cladding Boards possess an authentic wood-like texture that is available in a range of 7 colours as well as unpainted - for you to paint in a custom colour.

Fibre Cement Wall Cladding Boards are easy to install using a featherboard technique, with each board overlapping by 30mm onto the next. Fibre Cement Boards are fitted upon a vertical substructure of composite, recycled plastic or timber joists/battens to secure the boards to the garden room wall.

If your garden room has a gable end, additional shorter supporting battens are required, which is an important factor that needs to be considered when using a garden room cladding calculator. For more information, take a look at our Fibre Cement Wall Cladding Installation Guide.

Metal Cladding:

Cladding your garden room in metal cladding sheets offers a modern alternative to traditional wall cladding materials such as timber boards or tiles. Cladco Metal Wall Cladding Sheets are available in Corrugated, 32/1000 and 34/1000 Box Profiles, and create a contemporary finish. Metal wall cladding is available in a wide choice of colours and coatings to suit any budget whilst providing excellent weather resistance and longevity.

Compared to other wall cladding products, such as timber or composite, metal wall cladding sheets constructed from galvanised steel are cheaper in the long run due to reduced costs of maintenance and upkeep throughout its lifespan, which is a benefit when you come to calculate the cost of your garden room cladding.

Install metal sheets as cladding for your garden room project by using a series of battens positioned adjacent to the direction of the profile of the sheet. Installing sheets vertically allows for better water runoff and reduces any build-up of garden debris.

Step Three:

Once you have chosen the appropriate material you wish to use as wall cladding for your garden room, the next step is to enter your measurements into one of our calculators.

Cladco's Cladding Calculator will estimate how many Fibre Cement or Composite (Woodgrain and Original) cladding boards you may need for your garden room project.

This Calculator can be used to estimate how many Metal Wall Cladding Sheets you may need.

The results generated by each calculator are to be used as a guide, all measurements should be checked thoroughly.

How to Calculate Your Garden Room Roofing Costs

Your garden room roofing cost will depend on which material you opt for - with metal roofing sheets being a popular choice for many garden room owners, thanks to their strong, long-lasting material as well as the variety of attractive profiles available to choose from. With 32/1000 and 34/1000 Box Profile options, as well as 13/3 Corrugated and 41/1000 Tile Form Profiles - each available in a variety of Coatings and Colours to suit any garden room design.

Below, we take a look at how to calculate your garden room roofing cost with the help of our garden room roofing calculator. To calculate the cost of your garden room roofing, whichever profile, colour or coating of metal sheeting you choose to use, firstly requires you to follow a few simple steps, as below:

Step One - Measure:

Apex/dual pitch roof:

If you are thinking of having an apex or dual pitch roof, carefully measure the length and perimeter of the rafters of your garden room roof, as shown here (A, B, C and D). Consider how much overhang you want on your garden room roof. A roof with a suitably sized overhang will provide more protection from rain and harsh weather conditions.

Single Slope Roof:

If your garden room is going to be built against the side of a house or building, or you are thinking of having a single slope roof (sometimes referred to as a mono-pitch or lean-to roof), measure the sides as shown in this diagram (A and B). Again, consider how much of an overhang is required for additional protection when measuring size B, and add the additional length required accordingly when calculating the cost of your garden room roofing.

Flat Roof:

Flat Roof: Please note that Metal Roofing Sheets are not suitable for flat roofs, and so if you would like your garden room to feature a flat roof, the best option would be to use roofing felt or even an environmentally-friendly green roof.

When measuring your roof always measure in more than one place to ensure your roof is square. If you find you have different measurements always calculate your sheets to the longest length. Ensure your roofing rafters and purlins are strong and stable enough to support your metal sheeted garden room roof.

Step Two:

Before you can calculate your garden room roofing cost, choose from the following metal roofing options alongside a coating and colour to suit your project:

32/1000 Box Profile Roof Sheets:

Cladco 32/1000 Box Profile Roof Sheets are a single skin sheeting with robust strength, thanks to their size. Each of the 6 profiles across the length of the sheet has a 200mm pitch with a 32mm height. This Sheet is lower in height compared with our other profiles, and also contains fewer profiles. The small rib in between each profile provides additional strength to the entire length of the sheet.

32/1000 Box Profile Sheets are available in 0.7mm and 0.5mm thicknesses, and to improve the appearance and/or longevity, can be manufactured with PVC Plastisol, Polyester Paint or plain Glavanized Coatings - which are available in a choice of up to 12 colours cumulatively.

Each 34/1000 Box Profile Sheet will provide your garden room with a 1-metre width coverage when lapped, and can be made up to nine metres in length.

34/1000 Box Profile Sheets are also available in 0.7mm and 0.5mm thicknesses, and to improve the appearance and/or longevity of the sheet, can be manufactured with PVC Plastisol, Polyester Paint or plain Galvanized Coatings - which are available in a choice of up to 12 colours cumulatively.

Corrugated Metal Sheets feature 13 round corrugations of 76mm per corrugation and have been used on agricultural, commercial and industrial applications for over a century - now proving to be a popular choice for domestic garden rooms alike.

13/3 Corrugated Profile Sheets, like the 32/1000 and 34/1000 Box Profiles, are also available in 0.7mm and 0.5mm thicknesses and to improve the appearance and/or longevity of the sheet, can be manufactured with PVC Plastisol, Polyester Paint or plain Glavanized Coatings, which are available in a choice of up to 12 colours.

Cladco Tile Form Sheets give a 1metre coverage when lapped and can be manufactured to lengths of up to 6 metres.
